How Do I Share a Church’s Mass Times With a Friend?

by | Catholic churches near me

Have you ever wanted to send a friend the Mass times for a parish, only to end up typing the address and the whole schedule by hand into a text message? The Share feature in the Catholic Mass Times app takes care of it in a single tap: it sends a parish’s full information, complete and up to date, to any contact or social network.

In this article you’ll learn what this feature does, how to use it step by step, and why it’s one of the simplest ways to help other Catholics find Mass times at a church near them.

If you don’t have it yet, you can download the Catholic Mass Times app free for iOS and Android. With more than 110,000 churches across 200 countries, it’s the largest and most up-to-date database in the world for finding Mass times near you. Download it here.

1. What is the Share Church feature?

Share Church lets you send any parish’s complete information in a single tap, either to a contact through WhatsApp or any other messaging app, or straight to your social media. Whoever receives the link goes directly to that church’s detail screen inside the app, where the Mass Times, Confessions and Adoration schedules are already up to date.

If the person you’re sharing with doesn’t have the app installed yet, they can download it right from the link and go straight to that parish’s information from there.

2. Where is the Share icon in the app?

The Share icon sits in the upper right corner of the church’s detail screen, above the map and just over the parish name. To get there, tap any church pin on the Nearby map to open its detail screen.

3. How do I share a church from the app?

Sharing a parish’s information takes only a few seconds:

  1. Tap the church you want to share, either on the Nearby map or in your Favorites.
  2. On its detail screen, look for the Share icon above the map.
  3. Tap it. Your phone’s share sheet opens with whatever apps you have installed: WhatsApp, email, social media and the rest.
  4. Choose the app you want to use, then pick the contact or group you’re sending it to.

The link goes straight to that church’s detail screen inside the app, with all of its information and current times.

4. Why is sharing a church so useful?

Sharing a church is a simple way to help other Catholics find Mass times today, tomorrow or on Sunday without anyone having to copy out addresses, phone numbers or schedules that may change over time. Because the link points to the live listing, whoever receives it always sees that parish’s most current information, and nothing depends on you transcribing it correctly.

The feature earns its keep in a handful of everyday situations: when you want to invite a friend to Mass at a parish you’ve just discovered, when someone asks you about Mass times near a specific address, when you’re organizing a group pilgrimage and want to send out the list of churches to visit, or when you’d like to recommend an Adoration chapel to someone looking for a place to pray.

5. Is sharing a church the same as sharing the app?

Not quite. Sharing a church sends a direct link to one particular parish, with its own schedules. Sharing the app is a separate option, found in Settings under Like this app? Share it with a friend, and it simply invites someone to download Catholic Mass Times without pointing to any church in particular.
The two work well together: share a specific church for a specific occasion, or share the whole app so a friend can start using it every day.

How do I send a Catholic church's Mass times to a friend on WhatsApp?

Tap the church you want to share, open its detail screen and tap the Share icon next to the parish name. Choose WhatsApp from the options that appear, then pick the contact or group you’re sending it to.

What does the person I share a church with actually receive?

They receive a link that takes them straight to that church’s detail screen inside the app, with its address, phone number, Mass Times, Confessions and Adoration schedules, and all of the parish’s current information.

Does the other person need the app installed to see the church I shared?

Not beforehand. If they don’t have the app yet, they can download it right from the link and go straight to that church’s information.

Can I share a church on social media as well as WhatsApp?

Yes. Tapping the Share icon opens your phone’s share sheet, which includes messaging apps, social media, email and whatever else you have installed.

Where is the Share icon inside the app?

On iPhone, the Share icon appears above the church’s location on the map. On Android it sits next to the parish name on the detail screen, beside the heart icon you use to save a church to Favorites.

What's the difference between sharing a church and sharing the app?

Sharing a church sends a direct link to one specific parish’s schedules. Sharing the app, found under Settings, invites someone to download Catholic Mass Times in general, without tying the invitation to any particular church.

Does the information I share stay up to date?

Yes. The link points to the church’s listing inside the app, which is updated constantly thanks to the community of users, so whoever receives it always sees the most recent information available.
